Travel 1,000 years back at the world's longest reconstructed longhouse.

The experience

In the heart of Lofoten, you can travel 1000 years back in time and experience the Viking Age in an active and vibrant environment. At Borg you will find the world’s longest reconstructed longhouse. Smell the tar and fire, and experience how people lived in the Viking Age.

Study arts and crafts, demonstrated by skilled craftspeople. Feel the atmosphere in the large, wooden house.

Book a guided tour with our skilled viking guides. Visitors may also enjoy a glass of mead – the drink of the Gods, or a viking style meal inside the longhouse.

Our exhibition halls have unique artifacts from Lofoten. There you can also learn about the Viking Age, Borg as a center of power, and how the world’s longest longhouse was found and excavated. The exhibition is divided into three rooms and the tour takes place with your own smartphone that connects to our audio guide system – available in 6 languages. You can also see a short film, “The dream of Borg”.

The film is based on interpretations about Olav Tvennumbrunni and the unification of Norway under one king and recreates an interpretation of the atmosphere and life at Borg in the Viking Age.

Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea in our museum café and visit our gift shop with wide selection of souvenirs, books, jewelry.
